Garlic Chilli Prawns with Coconut Aminos: Easy 15-Minute Dinner

Garlic chilli prawns are one of the fastest dinners you can make. The prawns cook in just a few minutes, so the sauce is where the flavour has to come from. AmourCoco coconut aminos give it a savoury, slightly sweet depth that soy sauce can’t quite match, while fresh garlic and chilli keep it bold and fragrant. It’s soy-free, gluten-free, and on the table in about 15 minutes.

Method

  1. Step 1

    Prep the Prawns

Pat the prawns completely dry with kitchen paper and season lightly with salt and pepper.

💡 Pro Tip: Dry prawns sear instead of steaming, which gives better colour and keeps the sauce from turning watery.

  2. Step 2

    Sear the Prawns

Heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the prawns in a single layer and cook for about 1½ minutes per side, until pink and just curled. Remove to a plate.

  3. Step 3

Cook the Garlic, Chilli, and Ginger

Lower the heat to medium and add a little more oil if needed. Stir in the garlic, chilli, and ginger and cook for 30–40 seconds, until fragrant. Take care not to let the garlic brown, as it turns bitter quickly.

  4. Step 4

    Add the Sauce

Pour in the coconut aminos and honey, stirring for about 1 minute until the sauce bubbles and thickens slightly.

  5. Step 5

    Toss Together

Return the prawns to the pan and toss for 30–60 seconds, until evenly coated and heated through. Squeeze over the lime juice.

  6. Step 6

    Serve

Scatter with coriander and spring onions and serve straight away over rice, noodles, or steamed greens.
